TRISTAR GLASS opts for TUROMAS to expand its production capacity at its plant in Dallas, Texas.
Tristar Glass, a leading architectural glass manufacturer in the U.S., has strengthened its production capacity at its Dallas plant by acquiring smart machinery from Spanish manufacturer, Turomas. This strategic partnership, driven by high demand and the need to improve operational efficiency, includes the installation of two RUBI 517C cutting tables and an SR-07 storage system.
Founded in 2005, Tristar Glass, Inc. is an architectural glass manufacturing company located in the south-central United States. With three plants spanning two states, Tristar Glass has more than 390,000 square feet of manufacturing space and employs over 250 people.

Tristar’s partnership with Turomas: Interview with Rob Carlson, Head of Engineering at Tristar Glass
In a high-demand environment, the company identified the need to improve its production capacity and operational efficiency. Therefore, during its expansion phase at the Dallas facility, Tristar Glass decided to invest in smart machinery for the storage, loading and cutting of glass from the Spanish manufacturer Turomas.
In collaboration with IGE, TUROMAS’ U.S. distributor, a detailed study of the customer’s specific needs was conducted and a customized project was developed to meet all of Tristar Glass’ requirements.
"Whenever we have seen TUROMAS machinery at the Glasstec and GlassBuild shows, it has always caught our eye because of its design and speed, as well as having a very good reputation," said Robert Carlson, head of engineering at Tristar Glass.

Tristar Glass has acquired two RUBI 517C cutting tables equipped with linear motors and ACR low-e coating removal system, specially designed to work with Easypro and TPF protective coatings. To feed these tables, an SR-07 rack shuttle storage system with 55 positions has been installed, capable of storing up to 880 tons of glass. In addition, it has an external reloading position that makes it possible to reload the warehouse without stopping the loading cycle.
Both the cutting lines and the smart storage system can work with two standard glass sheets or with one jumbo glass sheet, which increases the versatility of the system and improves daily operability.
"The SR-07 can store jumbo packs or two standard glass packs, which gives us great storage capacity and flexibility. We can have two different packs and load either position within the same rack. Also, by moving the entire rack in front of the cutting table, it is very fast to cut large quantities of glass at a time."
The TUROMAS software has also been implemented with the StockGlass tools, which allows access to real-time stock information in the Turomas warehouses. And LinkGlass, which automates the production sequence, eliminating the intervention of operators in the selection of work orders and load scheduling.
The installation of the Turomas machinery at Tristar Glass: A process that surpassed expectations
Robert Carlson highlighted the skill and speed of the Turomas technical team, who completed the installation in record time. "One of the most remarkable things about TUROMAS was the speed of the installation and the experience and technical ability of the people who came to work with us. We have worked with many different brands and people, and these guys worked tirelessly during the installation, managing to complete it in a time frame I thought was impossible." "TUROMAS technical support has become invaluable to us and will be a key part of our partnership."
Looking to the future
The partnership between Tristar Glass and Turomas is a clear example of how investment in technology can transform a company’s operations. With the installation of the TUROMAS cutting and storage machinery, Tristar Glass is prepared to face future challenges and continue its expansion by demonstrating that innovation and quality are essential to remain at the forefront of the glass industry.
